From the Principal’s Pen!

Welcome to Spring Mill Elementary School, home of the Bulldogs! I am proud to be the principal of a school where educators, students and families partner together with a sense of joy and a focus on excellence in education.

Spring Mill opened in the ‘baby boom’ year of 1959, and I am honored to be the fourth principal at this wonderful school. I joined Spring Mill in 2008 after working for eleven years as a special educator and five years as a principal in Richmond, IN and Fishers, IN. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from Madras University in India, a Master of Education in Special Education from Boston University, Boston, MA and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Miami University, Oxford, OH.

My husband is a professor of economics at Earham College, in Richmond, IN, and we have one son who works in the field of data analytics. I’m lucky to be able to enjoy the company of 500+ kids every day. My interests are reading and making jewelry, and I’m trying to grow a green thumb! My heart lies in urban education and I have loved working at Spring Mill for about a dozen years.

Spring Mill takes pride in delivering a strong, well-rounded, quality education.

  • We are an International Baccalaureate World School and our team creates an environment that stimulates curiosity and eagerness for learning. Our media center offers an extensive collection of resources for students and teachers.  Music, art, physical education, media and Spanish are an integral part of our curriculum. Students have access to a wide range of technology resources. Our staff reflects the diversity of our student body, and includes general education teachers, special educators, teachers for English Language Learners, literacy and math coaches, a speech therapist, school psychologist, social worker, behaviorist and instructional assistants. We also house the At Your School (AYS) program for before and after school childcare.
  • We are an Ashoka Changemaker School, recognized for growing young people who have the skills and confidence to change the world for the good of all.
  • We celebrate the diversity of our families who share our passion for excellence. Spring Mill’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a tremendous asset to our school. Our PTO Executive Board plays an incredible role in coordinating the work of parent volunteers and strengthening our resources. Parents are active partners and support us throughout the school as they volunteer in classrooms and lead a wide range of student activities each year. We take pride in their presence at our school every day and truly count on them!

Kurt Hahn’s words: “We are crew, not passengers” forms the foundation of how we see our school community. As soon as you walk through our doors, we know that you will sense the joy and feeling of partnership that permeates the interactions of kids and grown-ups on a daily basis. We hope to welcome you in person to our beautiful school.

Keep smiling!
