From the Desk of Kellée Martin

Dear Bulldog Families,

As we close out another incredible school year, I want to take a moment to celebrate the hard work, growth, and achievements of our students, staff, and families. Throughout the year, our students have demonstrated perseverance, kindness, and a commitment to learning, making our school community a place of which we can all be proud.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in helping our students succeed. Together, we have celebrated many accomplishments, created lasting memories, and strengthened the connections that make our school such a special place.

As summer begins, I encourage everyone to take time to relax, recharge, and enjoy time with family and friends. Whether your plans include travel, outdoor adventures, reading a good book, or simply enjoying the sunshine, I hope your summer is filled with happiness, laughter, and wonderful memories.
Most importantly, please stay safe and healthy throughout the break. We are already looking forward to welcoming our students back for the 2026–2027 school year and are excited for the opportunities, learning, and success that lie ahead.

Have a safe, happy, and warm summer!

In partnership,
Kellée Martin
Principal of Spring Mill Elementary 💙🐾

Happy Summer Break SME Families!

We hope everyone has a wonderful summer break after all the hard work this school year! Enjoy time with family and friends, and maybe slower schedules and easier routines.

While we enjoy the summer, we are simultaneously looking forward to a busy and exciting 2026-27 school year ahead!

Parents - if you know you would like to get more involved with the PTO this coming school year, whether you have minimal time to offer or a great deal, we have a need and a space for EVERYONE! We'd love to hear from you and what kind of involvement you'd be most interested in. Do not hesitate to reach out if you'd like to discuss over the summer. I will send out another message as we near the beginning of the school year as well.

Enjoy the summer and be safe!

Attendance Matters - Every Day Counts!

Our goal each month is for every class to exceed 95% attendance—and that means being on time and ready to learn every day. We know it takes teamwork between home and school to make that happen, and we’re so thankful for our families’ partnership in helping students show up, stay engaged, and succeed.

Our Bulldogs made it to the finish line, and their attendance helped win the race! Every day they showed up, worked hard, and stayed committed made a difference. Their dedication, effort, and Bulldog spirit carried them all the way to the end. Keep pushing forward and striving for success in everything you do Bulldogs. We are proud of each and every one of you — great job! KG; Boyer-96.8% & Gilmore 95.5%, 2nd; Culp- 97.9% 4th; Turner- 97.5% & Best- 96.7%, 5th; Badger-97.6%, Stanley 96.0% & Sullivan 95.4%

To celebrate, students had the opportunity to spin the attendance wheel and enjoy fun rewards like lunch in the classroom, or a snack break. Great job parents, staff and students! Let’s keep working together to stay on track and keep our school community blooming all season long!

We are so proud of our students for their continued commitment to being at school every day and on time! Strong attendance plays a key role in academic success, helps build positive routines, and keeps our students connected to their classmates and teachers.

Thank you to our families for your ongoing support in making attendance a priority during the 2025-2026 school year. Together, we are building strong habits that set our students up for success—every single day. Let's keep up the great work for the 2026-2027 school year!

Check out the pictures below of some classes being acknowledged for their commitment to attendance. Let’s keep it up, Bulldogs—every day counts! 💙🐾

Summer Meal Programs

This summer, our district is proud to participate in the USDA Summer Food Service Program, providing free meals to children and teens age 18 and younger at designated community locations. These meal sites help ensure students have access to nutritious meals throughout the summer months when school is not in session. Families are encouraged to take advantage of these convenient locations, with breakfast and/or lunch available on weekdays at participating sites. Together, we can help support student health, well-being, and readiness for the upcoming school year.

Transportation Reminder

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, families who need to request transportation, cancel transportation, or update a bus stop location must complete the Bus Transportation Status Form by July 20, 2026 to ensure transportation is ready for the first day of school on August 6, 2026. Any changes after this date must be handled through your school.

Do NOT Complete This Form If the following applies to you or your student:
  • Your student was on a bus roster at the end of the 2025-2026 school year (check Skyward through June 30, 2026)
  • Your student is a new student or incoming kindergartner from the Early Learning Center
  • Your student requires transportation accommodations (must go through the Teacher of Record)

ONLY Complete This Form If the following applies to you or your student:
  • Your student was not on a bus roster at the end of the 2025-2026 school year and will need transportation for 2026-2027 (check Skyward through June 30, 2026)
  • Your student was on a bus roster but will not need transportation for 2026-2027
  • You are requesting an alternate bus stop location (must be updated annually)

As a reminder, students may have one AM and one PM stop within the school boundary. All addresses must be verified using the District Boundary Tool. Businesses are not permitted as bus stops unless they are an approved daycare. Students may be removed from the bus roster after 10 consecutive days of not riding.

AYS After School Care

AYS Registration Now Open for the 2026–2027 School Year!

It's never too early to start planning for next school year! AYS (At Your School) registration is now open for before- and after-school care for the 2026–2027 school year. Many programs are already filling quickly, so families are encouraged to secure their spot as soon as possible.

This year, AYS has transitioned to a new registration platform, EZChildTrack. All families must create a new account before registering. AYS also offers sliding-scale fees and drop-in care options to help meet the needs of families.

To register:
  1. Create a new account through the EZChildTrack registration system.
  2. Select your child's school site and complete the enrollment process.
  3. Contact the AYS Family Access and Support Team (F.A.S.T.) with any questions at 844-865-FAST or customerservice@ayskids.org.
Please note that some high-demand sites may reach capacity quickly. Once a program is full, enrollment will close until additional spaces become available.

Visit ayskids.org to register and learn more about AYS programming.

Learning Under the Sun at Willow Lake

Learning Under the Sun:
Willow Lake Elementary School is hosting Learning Under the Sun camp June 1–12!

Learning Under the Sun (LUS) is a summer enrichment day camp with an emphasis on STEM education (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). LUS has been offering engaging summer programming for MSDWT students for more than 30 years. The program is designed for students entering grades 4–8 and is led by highly qualified MSDWT elementary and middle school teachers.

This year’s theme, “The Art of Science,” highlights how creativity and scientific thinking work together—showing students that discovery, design, innovation, and problem-solving all require both imagination and analytical thinking.

During the two-week (10-day) camp, students will participate in hands-on learning experiences such as 3D printing, build challenges, coding, rocket launching, journaling, and community service. We also have several exciting field trips and activities planned this summer, which may include visits to a water park, historical landmarks, a college campus, a cow eyeball dissection, hikes at Indiana State Parks, a county fair, & MORE!

Submit the attached application, and email Mr. Tyler Thiems with any questions at: tthiems@msdwt.k12.in.us

Visitors & Volunteers

In an effort to keep our children and school safe, a Limited Background Check must be completed every school year prior to volunteering in or visiting the classroom or attending any field trips. Forms can be completed online by visiting this ink: Volunteer - Limited Criminal History Background Check. Limited Volunteer / Limited Background checks are free of charge and first time applicants are responsible for the completion of the online bullying education and training provided by MSDWT. We suggest that, if you plan on volunteering at any point in the year, turn in your Background Check form now to allow for processing time.

We welcome parents/guardians to visit the classroom but we ask that you make an appointment with your child's teacher prior to the visit. This will help to ensure it is not during a time that would be an interruption to instruction or during testing.
