Spring Mill Principal

Greetings Spring Mill Elementary Bulldogs!

My name is Kellèe Merritt and I am the proud principal of SMES. I am excited to be beginning my third year as the principal of Spring Mill elementary school serving as the fifth principal of this school since it opened in 1959. My previous experience has been as both a classroom teacher, assistant principal and instructional coach. This marks my 25th year as an educator and I couldn’t be any more proud to serve the students and families of this outstanding school community.

Spring Mill Elementary is a very special place, which is characterized by diversity and a focus on equity and inclusion. As you walk the hallways of our newly renovated building, students are greeted with smiles and hugs from so many members of our student body. One thing is for sure, our students know how to express empathy towards others and are open to love. It is one of the things that makes our school community so unique.

You will find that our classrooms are engaging and responsive to the diverse needs of the students we serve. We are fostering learning environments where students can be agentive demonstrating choice voice and ownership within the content they are exploring. Our workshop model in both literacy and math provides our learners with opportunities for meaningful discourse and independent practice in order to exhibit mastery. This is a place where your child’s social, emotional, physical, academic and behavioral needs will be met as our focus is the whole child.

I am the mother of two daughters, which I am proud to say they spent their preschool and elementary school years in Washington Township. As both an employee and parent, I can assure you that this school district offers a wide stay of experiences and opportunities for young learners. If you are in the area, please stop by and check out this neighborhood school. We would love to take you on a student lead tour of our renovated facility. There has never been a better time to be a Spring Mill Bulldog.

Ms. Kellèe Merritt has been in Washington Township for over 10 years and is passionate about building relationships and ensuring all students succeed. Ms. Merritt has a clear mission and takes pride in the fact that her goal is to close the gap of learning for all students.
